Overcoming fertility problems led me to nutritional therapy. And I want to pass on what I’ve learned.

Hi, I’m Katie.

For me, it all started when I was struggling to conceive.

The emotional rollercoaster was real and destructive.

The hope and excitement building as I passed day 28 each month (even though I’d never had a 28 day cycle in my life), the tears and despair with every period. Or when I did get pregnant, the fear of going to the loo every single time in case there was blood. Trying to be hopeful, but not too hopeful - you know, to protect myself in case it went wrong.

Christmas was the hardest time and I lost all joy for it. The whole thing had become such a process.

One that was not fun and consumed all of my thoughts and energy every single day. We retreated. We stopped making plans for things in case we were pregnant. I remember the feelings of jealousy every time friends announced they were pregnant and then hating myself for it. I remember torturing myself with making Pinterest boards of things to do with babies and nursery decorating ideas. Our sad spare room, that waited to be something else.

I remember the moment we broke down on the phone to a family member in the hospital cafe, as she happily (and expectantly) announced a pregnancy in the family. That was the moment we finally admitted to others that we were having trouble.

We had just found out about the ectopic pregnancy. Another miscarriage later and the fear was really starting to set in that we may never be parents.

I started to read everything I could find about fertility. My husband and I committed to making targeted diet and lifestyle changes.

6 months later, I was pregnant with my son! And his sister was conceived 18 months later.

Within weeks of finding out I was pregnant, I embarked on my 3 year nutrition course. In hindsight, it’s clear to me that my earlier habits and lifestyle had set the stage for fertility issues. If I could turn back the clock, I wish I’d had the support of a nutritional therapist to help me get my health in shape before starting to even think about trying to conceive. By sharing my knowledge and helping couples to conceive and have the family they dream of, I hope to improve the health of future generations.
